Fire is said to be top dps
Fire is said to be top dps for mages according to websites, but in-game arcane seems to rape fire dps, i dunno which to do, i got fire MS and arcane OS and i keep switching and wasting money on gems/reforges...plz help me with which one is best to stick with

molten armor is good for just fire and frost spec, not good for arcane which you must be lol fire and frost need the crit and dont need the mana regen

Dnt agree with ur spec at all Cauterize i feel is must a free self rez if u die as long as ur healers are on the ball and not brain dead i feel this i must have also i think that going down into arcane to get presence of mind is also a good way to go for a free pyroblast at start of fight to get dots rolling and the 5% damge bonus on

For one thing Cauterize is useless in pve and is not a rez it is protection ability its down side is that when it activate you will die if not heald within its duroation, you cannot go down far enough into the arcane tree to obtain PoM due to the new style of talent point spread Cauterize is more useful in pvp but not by much

Cauterize is VERY useful in pve. Dead dps does zero dps. If you take that big hit that would have killed you, you cauterize and go back to 40% health. Then you simply throw up mage armor and even mana shield to absorb the cuaterize dot...or even iceblock to clear it out.
I too had the points in fire blast, but soon noticed other mages out damaging me on fights because I was dead. Some damage is unavoidable, and things aren't as easy for healers now as they were in WotLK. I noticed on recount that these other mages had cauterized as many as 3 times on the boss fight (it can proc once per min.)! 3 times they should have died, but live on to keep shooting fireballs.

Cauterize is not a self rez...and if you dont get healed by your healer while you are being cauterized you die..
Molten Armor is useless in

Best to use Mage Armor for mana regen :-)
