Playing a druid-healer

Hello,

I recently, only within the last week, switched from playing a MUD (A text based RPG) to learning the first bits of WoW. I want my primary focus to be on healing to the extent that I require to know the easiest way to heal my team and to not become a target. It has also been made aware to me that I can assist my team in certain aspects that though aren't healing, are nearly as effective. Such as putting someone in a cyclone for a few seconds. What are my best options and tactics when healing my team? And what circumstance do I switch from healing, to defense of my team?

Druids are a very versatile class and in my opinion one of the best healers. Cyclone can be used for crowd control, however, if your group make-up is that bad that you are doing crowd control as a healer you may want to reconsider what type of groups you are playing in.

Healing your group with a druid is all about Heal over Time Management. There are several heal over time's that you get, rejuvenation, regrowth, and lifebloom. Keeping rejuvenation up on the tank is a good idea so that you have time to gauge how fast he is typically losing life and ensure your big heal "healing touch" has time to hit.

If you're only job is to heal for PvE you will want to spend almost all of your points into the healing tree and make sure you get subtlety so that you have reduced threat when casting heals. If you get aggro while healing you can always try to cyclone or swap into bear form temporarily to try and outlive the aggro, but if you're getting too much aggro from just healing your group is probably bad. You have tranquility in stick situations where a lot of your members in your group are taking damage and you can't heal them all fast enough. Don't forget in the restoration tree you'll have talents like swiftmend which you can cast after a rejuvenation or regrowth and have it restore all of that hp on the spot. Nature's Swiftness is another key talent to use in a bad situation because it makes your next heal instant cast.

If you're looking to do some PvP and have some more survivability you will want to consider going down into the feral combat tree to get thick armor in bear form and possibly feral charge to stun opponents. Also, nature's grasp and it's upgrade in the balance tree is not a bad idea.

LMAO this guy james has no clue what he is talking about .... if you count on being a druid healer for PVE go All resto or nothing ! unless your a teir 6 raider then your not goona make it as a healer being a split feral resto druid ... the best spec for a true druid is 1/46/14.... you can tank and heal raids..... you would need to look up a druid with that exact spec .... layra on shadowmoon is a good example... Feral is the best for lvling and soloing instances/raiding/pvp/ect/ect. some people who enjoy casters try the balance resto split wich i would only recomend attempting as a pvp druid who healbots sometime and will never realy do any pve at all.
