We haven't been told much about flying our mounts in Northrend. We knew there would be some sort of attunement process and we had feared it would be a poorly executed gold sink. Bornakk released some information today, suggesting it won't be. Players will be able to fly their current mounts in Northrend, which should include their epics, at level 77. Can you imagine increasing your speed 280% once you reach level 77? That should be a pretty significant milestone in Northrend travel.
The exact details of how haven't been set in stone yet. Here is how Bornakk put it:
"You will be able to use the same mounts that you currently use in Outland. There will be some sort of process to complete to be able to use the mount once a character hits level 77, but the exact details are undecided at this time. If you are referring to needing a large sum of gold to use them, sort of like a new tier of flying skill, that isn't the current plan." - Bornakk, Blizzard Poster (link)
