Reputation is an important part of the end game content in World of Warcraft. In order for players to gain access to many weapons, gear, formulas, and recipes a certain level of reputation must be gained with certain factions. Reputation levels can be increased in a variety of ways including slaughtering mobs, completing quests, and gathering and turning in items to NPCs.

In some cases raising the reputation you have with one faction can result in losing reputation with an opposing faction. This can lead players to make difficult choices between which factions they would like to increase their reputation with in order to get the items that best suit their particular characters.
