Best Hunter DPS Build

Class: Hunter
Role: DPS
Tree: Survival
Points: 3-1-32
Patch:
4.0

Hunters got a makeover in patch 4.0 with the removal of the mana and ammo system and the implementation of the new focus system. Hunter's seem to make a little more sense now as a class.

There's a big emphasis on Serpent Sting now and haste. Survival is still probably the best DPS tree but the others are more in tune and balance and it may depend on what type of gear setup and level you have.

Other than that, the rotations are still the same, explosive shot when possible, keep serpent sting and black arrow up, and throw in other shots based on situation, necessity, or to dump focus as you see fit.

I have alway's been BM, I

I have alway's been BM, I have tryed the other specs but always went back to BM there are only 2 viable specs for Hunters those are BM/SV. I am pulling around 10k-14k at any one time in Dungens. I use the spirit Beast from Sholozar Basin, My Hunters name is Saberth on Antonidas

All three do great DPS. You

All three do great DPS. You cant just use one persons subjective experience as to which has the best DPS. A lot of factors come into play such as rotation, gear, forging, glyphs etc. I loved BM and Survival. I'm now MM pulling 20k DPS.

Um... I was BM... doing 7k - 9k in heroics. I threw in my MM here and there and was seeing slightly less dps than BM (a few hundred, not much). I read up on some other forums and went to Survival as they suggested. I am now doing 9k - 13k dps. This is all single target dps. If you take AoE for trash into account, Survival has it over both other specs by thousands of dps.

Surv seems to have been

Surv seems to have been nerfed -> no master tactician, no expose weakness.

MM is still the best on burst,

BM, however, is my choice over all because it is the most balanced, ie: with the new boss fights that require u too move often, stand still specs such as Surv (think sniper training) simply are redundant. on bosses that i have to move, my dps isnt hurt as much wen my cat does 40% of my dm and simply doesnt die (lick ur wounds ftw)

sooo, its MM or BM, but BM is a far easier rotation, + Bestial Wrath is ust epic!!

A year later. 4.3 has hit & I

A year later. 4.3 has hit & I think it's still pretty much the same. My hunter (Namasté) Thorium Brotherhood has 372 gear and does a steady 20-25K in randoms. I see peak of over 40K when I have enough targets for multishot, which is insane Deeps.

But the fights do require move movement. I have had BM OS for over 4 years (I kept it because of my exotic pets). But with the Twilight fight mechanics, I might try it again, for the ease of movement. I can always switch for tank&spank bosses.

This guide is all mostly

This guide is all mostly right to my knowledge. Beast mastery would have to be the best tree line though for pvp, dps, and leveling because everything wants to attack your pet instead of you so that gives you the advantage of attacking as much as you can and your pet is very hard to kill if you have beast mastery so no one catches on 'til it's too late.

Actually, there appear to be

Actually, there appear to be alot more Beast Masters now. Followed by MM. Seems like SV is at the bottom of the list.

Wow what a joke whoever is

Wow what a joke whoever is raiding surv in 4.0 doesn't have a clue mm is still the best.

MM is not the best and was

MM is not the best and was not before the patch either. Though it did have a slight lead on AOE damage SV was still number one for single target boss fights. Now with 4.0 I have seen all three specs to respectable damage if you have enough haste and agility.
