Level 70 Warlock Farming Guide

Average: 4 (4 votes)

So you have a level 70 warlock, but you're depressed at your lack of stockpiled gold? Do you wish there was something you could do to gain copious amounts of loot with little effort and maximum efficiency? Fortunately for you, there is an easy solution to this problem! With just a few easy steps and a new, fun, and rewarding playstyle, you can turn your level 70 warlock into a veritable farming machine!

Step 1: The talents. This talent build is very specific, as it is going to maximize your farming ability by giving you tons of self-reliability and minimizing downtime. Doing this is as simple as spending 40 talent points in the Affliction tree and the remaining 21 in the Demonology tree. Here's a breakdown of how your talent trees should look.

AFFLICTION TALENTS (40 points):

5/5 Improved Corruption - This allows you to instantly cast Corruption, a vital skill.
2/2 Improved Lifetap - Lifetap is an essential recharging skill. More mana per health is very desirable.
2/2 Soul Siphon - Drain Life is very necessary in this playstyle.
1 point - put this in either Suppression or Improved Drain Soul, both have their merits, neither are very important.
5/5 Fel Concentration - This talent is needed for ANY Drain Life build.
1/1 Amplify Curse - Needed for Curse of Exhaustion and gives you the occasional boost to Curse of Agony.
2/2 Grim Reach - Longer distance on your DoT spells means further the mob has to run to attack you.
2/2 Nightfall - You're already casting Corruption and Drain Life, why not get a bonus Shadowbolt from time to time?
1/1 Siphon Life - Siphon Life helps keep you alive longer while damaging the enemy.
1/5 Shadow Embrace - This helps out your Soul Siphon with an extra Affliction effect.
1/1 Curse of Exhaustion - In the case you can't drain-tank a mob, kiting is the next best option.
3/3 Empowered Corruption - You're casting Corruption on every enemy. Get the most out of it.
5/5 Shadow Mastery - Most of your damage is shadow-based. This is a great upgrade to your damage-output.
5/5 Contagion - This boosts a few of your most-used spells.
2/2 Improved Howl of Terror - This will save your life if you accidently over-pull.

You should have 2 points leftover. Put these in either Improved Curse of Agony, Improved Drain Soul, or Suppression. It's your choice, so pick whatever you like best.

DEMONOLOGY TALENTS (21 points):

5/5 Demonic Embrace - Spirt is unimportant for a warlock, and the stamina boost is needed to help with Demonic Sacrifice.
2/2 Improved Healthstone - You'll need the healthstones, might as well make them count.
3/3 Fel Intellect - You're going for a minor increase to mana here--this talent is mainly to move up to the higher tiers.
3/3 Fel Stamina - Increasing your health even more is a good bonus.
3/3 Demonic Aegis - This helps your Fel Armor which keeps you alive longer.
1/1 Fel Domination - If you need an emergency Voidwalker shield or you just want to refresh your Sacrifice bonus faster, this helps a great deal.
2/2 Master Summoner - Casting your pets faster means less sitting around to recast your Sacrifice.
1 point - Put this anywhere. Any Demonology talent will do. I usually go Improved Voidwalker for the rare chance I need a shield.
1/1 Demonic Sacrifice - THIS is the bread-and-butter of this spec! While grinding, your Voidwalker will be Sacrificed 100% of the time, giving you the phenomenal Fel Stamina buff!

Step 2: Playstyle. Now that you have the right tools, you need to learn how to use them. This is a bit more hectic than a lot of people like, as you prefer to fight multiple enemies at once with no pet. Always keep yourself buffed with Fel Stamina (from casting Demonic Sacrifice on your Voidwalker) and Fel Armor. The only two stats that really matter on your gear are Spell Damage (or Shadow Damage) and Stamina--you can boost these stats while neglecting all others for your farming. Find a spot to farm where the mobs aren't spread too far out, and wreak havoc. Depending on your gear, you can pull upwards of 10-15 mobs at a time. Run around and spam all three of your instant-cast DoTs on as many mobs as you're comfortable handling. Lifetap liberally to keep your health and mana even (as your multiple Siphon Life castings and your Fel Stamina will refresh the health), and as soon as you have enough mobs, pick one and Drain Life. Renew your DoTs on each mob as they fade. As they die, renew your Drain Life on any still alive. Lifetap down a bit more, loot, and get ready to pull again. It's very easy. If you happen to pull too many or get unlucky due to a stun/crit chain, feel free to cast Howl of Terror to give yourself a few moments to catch your breath. If you'd like to kill an elite or a rarespawn (watch out for some of the higher-end rarespawns--they hurt), feel free to kite rather than drain-tank by replacing Curse of Agony with Curse of Exhaustion. This strategy becomes intuitive once you get the hang of it, and you'll figure out how many mobs you can pull at a time rather soon.

Step 3: Location. Once you have the skills and the strategy down, all you need is a good place to start your farming. One place that is very profitable is just outside the Black Temple in Shadowmoon Valley. Fighting the Blood Elf Demon Hunters is great because they drop silver, good amounts of vendor trash, netherweave, the occasional rare world drop, as well as Scryer Reputation items. The cloth, Rep items, and rare drops all sell well on the Auction House. If this spot seems congested, you can try Eclipse Point as it has all the same benefits. Elemental Plateau (on a PvE server) and Skettis (in the lake) are good for farming Primals, which generally sell well on the Auction House--as well as vendor trash that sells for decent amounts. The problem with farming Primals, however, is the constant competition. I'm sure if you look around in various Outland zones, you can find your own favorite spots to farm. Ogres in Nagrand, Demons near Ogri'la, Manaforges in Netherstorm, the possibilities are endless. The big thing to remember is that you want a lot of mobs in a small area--and possibly a nearby town for selling.

Using this spec, unusual playstyle, and knowing the right locations, it is possible to farm endlessly with your level 70 warlock with no downtime. The play is engaging, the location possibilites are endless, and the gold will roll in faster than ever before. In a short amount of time, you'll have your Epic Flight training with thousands of gold leftover! You'll never be low on cash again using this unconventional method!
