This guide provides rogue PvP tactics and tricks. If you're looking for a EXTREMELY in depth rogue guide check out this, it covers everything you'll ever want to know about your rogue.
World PvP
If any class had the ability to grief someone in World PvP it is definately the rogue. A rogue can sneak up on anyone unexpectantly in World PvP and ruin timed quests, corpse camp them, wait until they are PvE'ing and then jump them, one shot them at low health, and all sorts of ways you can piss someone off in World PvP.
The strategy is pretty simple since most of the time as a rogue you will be initiating the fight. You can gear up your poisons to the class you are going to jump (I rarely need poisons in World PvP) and then you can either go for cheap shot or an ambush as opening moves depending on your gear and just whack away. If you have a lot of time on your hands wait until they are fighting before you jump them again (it really pisses people off).
In the event that you are not the one initiating the fight in World PvP be prepared to use your evasiveness, blind, vanish, and other rogue abilities because they are most likely needed. Hunters have a bad habit of getting rogues marked, snared, or dotted but if you are quick enough and have shadowstep you can be a hunter's worse nightmare especially if you have a crippling poison active. I have my hotkeys set for skills like Vanish so for me to get a hunter all I do Vanish, Shadowstep, Ambush and watch him cry. You can hit all those keys in < 1 second before any dot or shots take off your stealth. World PvP can be super fun and spontaneous, it's by far the best PvP mode for rogues.
Battleground PvP
Battleground PvP for Shadowstepping Ambush rogues is just like farming honor. What I do is sit stealth during big battles, toggle targets to find one low health, shadowstep / ambush, then walk out of combat and do it again. I almost always lead killing blows on my server for all battlegrounds. If you want more honor per kill then wait away from the raid to where people with low health usually escape to or are least expecting it. Typically you want to avoid fighting warriors who wear a shield or paladins with decent gear. It's not that they are good, it's that they won't die, and by the time you finally kill them chances are you have wasted 30 minutes of your life or some of his buddies have come along to help them out. It's not worth your time. So many n00bs play the Paladin class and think they are good at PvP that it makes me cry. Avoid them at all costs if you can in 1v1 situations unless you know you are far more superior geared or can get enough stuns in to stop their gayness; it may end up costing you 30 minutes of your life that you can't get back. Look for cloth wearers or those with low hp and just wail away.
Dueling
Dueling is probably where the rogue has the greatest disadvantage but it depends on the skill of your opponent. The biggest advantage of the rogue in PvP is choosing when to start the fight and who to fight, in duels each person can prepare for the battle. "Hold on let me get my poisons on and bandage myself" <--- How lame is that. Most of the fights are scripted by what class you are fighting and even by what gear / weapon setup they have on because in duels you have time to inspect or determine all of that. "Okay I'm fighting a shadowpriest let me put on my poisons to slow his casting time and then I'm going to start in stealth go in for a cheap shot and try to stunlock him. If the stun comes off I'm going to be feared that's where I pop my anti-fear item of my choice and go back in for a gouge or perhaps vanish and cheap shot again" Yeah that sounds like fun. All you n00bs that duel with your rogue and think you own, get a life. You might as well go play RTS if you want to strategize and scout out your opponent.

congratulations
you win the worst rogue PvP guide of the year!
A
LOL
Your bad
Not just bad, terrible, not even that! You are so bad at playing a rogue that you don't deserve to even play wow. Anyone who reads this and thinks its true so go hang them selves.
People like you who make rogues make me sick.

Don't be jealous that you can't beat a paladin. Just go vanish like all the other rogues do when I'm about to slay them.
oh here we are.... another
oh here we are.... another bunch of idiotic noobs who want to pick at someone's guide for a game. If you don't like the guide, thats fine, however less QQ on his/her own website about it. Also, I think its a great guide. I used the sub spec with a few tweaks and added malice, remorse attacks, ruthlessness, relentless strikes and lethality, and am now using that spec with swords... and its great for pvp, especially arenas.
For the record... this is the type of game you play when you are bored with real games, intense ones like BF2 / 2142, or C&C or CS. Do you all think you are elite gamers because you play too much WoW to be actually good at it? Please gtfo, this is a laid back nubs game that I play when im bored and lmao at you noobs who class this as a leet game to play.
Why are you dissing the guys
Why are you dissing the guys guide when you dont eaven explain what is wrong about it `?
Although it's not the best
Although it's not the best guide going around, Less QQ more pew pew please.
I'm not too sure on how old this guide is, however, Shs ambush = fail when you're a level 70 facing people with +350 resil. Personally speaking, I believe that a 5/15/41 build with swords is ONE of the better pvp builds going around. Ambush is great for twink BG's where resilience doesn't play a big part, but at level 70, you notice that your evis ( replaced by rupture), ambush and backstab don't crit anywhere near what they used to.
In regards to picking people off in BG's, it sounds like you farm Hk's more than you do help defend / attack nodes. It's so much more rewarding when you sap one enemy, blind the other, take down the cloth wearer, vanish and see how well you go against the two remaining.
I wasn't too fond on your comments in regards to Arena. As you're well aware, wow pvp is purely based on the "scissors/paper/rock" structure and although skill maybe be a factor in a pvp environment, the bottom line is, Class + gear >>> skill. For example, in a 2 v 2 arena environment, two rogues would annihilate two warlocks 99% of the time. However, put a resto druid and a warrior against two rogues, and mentioned rogues will lose the majority of the time. There's absolutely no balance in wow pvp and there never will be.
When buffs / nerfs are made, it also affects those who enjoy PVE. You simply can't perfect a game with two aspects ( PVE + PVP) and call it 100% balanced.
Anyway, a rather pointless rant, and again, lets try to be a little nicer to the guy who wrote the guide.
you are stupid. Try play
you are stupid. Try play pokémon instead.
Wow, anywho...everyone has
Wow, anywho...everyone has there way of playing there toon. me personally could care less what anyone thinks about me when i camp them or get them while they are low, im trying to get honor and or the drop! nothing personal but i hate dying, so if i see a higher ally with low health who may be a warrior or a pally, damn right im going to take advantage, and anyone who says differently is lying! the game is simple, kill or be killed, thats it, yes it takes gear and knowing what buttons to push, but other than that the game is simple. the guide is just his way of telling you what way to take advantage...you're a rogue, rogues are generally dirty fighters...
honestly, this is like the
honestly, this is like the best guide ever!!! It's dumb but it's true... those #%!#$ looking elves are soo annoying!
Why ARENT you dissing the

You sir, fight with no
You sir, fight with no dignity
I pity those who live in
I pity those who live in games , all those comments to this person's Rogue setup ? For what ? I play WoW out of fun , and let me tell you that a Rogue is better they way YOU play it , you just have to be smart and take advantage of every little thing u have , because a Rogue can keep it's opponent incapacitated/stunned 90% of the time while in PVP and not to mention the Evasion buff , so yeah a Rogue it's best the way you play it and not the setup you have , you only need to make a talent setup they way you like it and the way YOU think it's best for you , because trying to copy some1 else's setup makes you lame imho.
And honestly stop making lame comments on his/her setup , it's the way this person plays and most important of all , it's only a game....get a life (as you say in WoW) you damn trolls !!!!!!!!!!
Yeah this was great.... can
Yeah this was great.... can i somehow get my time back i wasted to read this?
Never seen a guide like
Never seen a guide like this... will admitt it was really entertaining to read. Conclusion to be drawn from this is simply that you should really go and play some more with your rogue and actually learn to play the class. You are probably an ally too to add :P
Truth be told you should not be using ambush at 70, really its absolutely no use, as the chances of a crit and the damage done by crit is reduced with res its a waste of time. As for the "Strategize and scout" comment, yes you want to be able to strategize, i mean come on you think it should just be pew pew die? remember that there are even tournaments with $200,000 rewards, come on, you need at least a little skill.
Dueling is without a doubt where the rogue has the greatest advantage, you have a different set of skills that can destroy any opponent from bleeding and kiting the warrior to stunlocking the cloth wearer.
As for paladins, the only time it should be a real problem is when they pop that epic bubble so 1v1 you pull your original stunlock combo which should do decent damage and keep it going till they pop it, then you get out of range and break combat, stealth and go back in for the kill, a complete stunlock with some kiting (wound poison and crippling poison) should help with that as well, it should be enough to take down a paladin in far less than 30 minutes. You. sir. need to time your kicks and know when to gouge, blind, vanish, cheapshot.
How many rogues does it take
How many rogues does it take to gank a paladin? TWO, one to ambush and one to camp at the inn.... ^^
I'm hoping this is a joke...

This thread reminds me of
This thread reminds me of 'road rage' syndrome. You feel anonymous behind a keyboard so you toss out all tact, demure, and just plain humanity toward others. At that point, it will NEVER matter what you have to say. You've already become the psycho screaming on the street corner. You may very well have a fabulous point, but nobody will listen. Dissenting opinions are rarely met with hostility when presenting themselves with dignity and respect.
On that note, it would have greatly benefited me to have read both sides of the 'rogue PvP' strategy. Unfortunately, the responses given dropped the information down to the level of "The National Inquirer".
