Scryer Reputation Guide

There has been a lot of heated debate and controversy since the Burning Crusade was released about choosing between The Scryers and the Aldors. I'm not going to throw fuel into that fire, but I am going to layout all of the rewards and fastest ways you can get to exalted for you.

Why Scryer?

There could be many reasons for players to choose the Scryer reputation but the most obvious reasons are to further better their characters through gear and items or better their professions by learning formulas to help level or craft items they will use. There are formulas and recipes available for Jewelcrafting, Leatherworking, Blacksmithing, Tailoring, and Alchemy. There are Scryer items that are suitable for Rogues/Feral Druids, Tanking Warriors/Paladins, Damage Casters, Healing Druids/Priests, and Dagger Wielding Melee Classes. In addition to these great rewards you can also buy items that will enchant your shoulders for +defense, +criticial strike rating, +spell critical strike rating, and +mana per 5 seconds (no you don't have to be an enchanter to apply these enchants).

How do I choose Scryer?

Now that you know what's possible. Let me tell you what's required. You are required to choose Scryer and work your butt off getting your reptuation level up. To choose Scryer follow these steps:

Please note that this is only the optimal way to choose Scryer. If you are level 64 you can turn in Arcane Tomes until you are Friendly and then follow up with the appropriate Signets that you will be able to turn in after you are Friendly and the appropriate level or turn in Arcane Tomes until you are exalted.

Getting Honored with The Scryers (Recommended Level 64)

This is the recommended way to go from Friendly to Honored with Scryers. You must be at least level 62 for this part as it is required for the Repetable Quest involving Firewing Signets. For this part you will be collecting Firewing Signet for the quest "Firewing Signets" and turning them into Magistrix Fyalenn who is located in the Scryer's Tier in Shattrah City. After your first turn in you will be allowed to accept a repeatable quest to turn in Firewing Signets but you must be level 64 and will only be able to turn them in until you hit honored. Once you reach honored you will have to follow the next part to increase your reputation.

Where to collect Firewing Signets

The best location to collect Firewing Signets is the Auction house. The second best spot that you will most likely be going to is a place in Terrokar Forest called Firewing Post.

The mobs consist of melee and casters. You must be very careful around the mobs that are channeling in groups; sometimes if you aggro one the others will turn on you and they nuke hard. On average you will get 1 Firewing Signet for every 6-7 mobs you kill and loot.

Getting Revered/Exalted with The Scryers (Recommended Level 68)

For this part is is recommended you be level 68 because you are going to do a quest which involves turning in Sunfury Signets and you will also be turning in Arcane Tomes which you can do repeatedly since level 64. You do not need these quests prior to getting the items. The quest for Arcane Tomes comes from Voren'thal the Seer located in the Scryer's Tier in Shattrah City and the quest for Sunfury Signets comes from the same guy gave your Firewing Signets to (Magistrix Fyalenn).

Where to get Sunfury Signets/Arcane Tomes

The best place to get Sunfury Signets is the Auction House, however, you will probably be grinding them from mobs in Netherstorm or Shadowmoon Valley. They drop off the bloodelves in both areas. The mobs that supposedly has dropped a Sunfury Signet in less than 1 in 4 kills on average is the Sunfury Blood Knight located in Netherstorm around Manaforge Ara but they drop at around 1 in 6 kills off all of the Sunfury Mobs in Netherstorm, below is a full detailed map.

You can also farm them in Shadowmoon Valley as well. Here is a map to the area they are located.

All of the Tempest Keep (Instance) Sunfury mobs have a high chance to drop Signets and Tomes. Some almost as high as 1 in 2 kills. The Tempest Keep instances include: The Mechanar, The Botanica, and The Arcatraz.

Scryer Quest Lines

In addition to farming Signets and Arcane Tomes there are also Scryer specific quests and quest chains you can follow to gain faction.

Netherstorm

There is a questline available in Netherstorm that starts in the Area 52 Inn from Spymaster Thalodien who gives the quest Manaforge B'Naar. This is a long quest line and should keep you busy, just follow the steps they give you starting with this one here if you want to use quests to get some faction and/or gold and experience. Magistrix Larynna also has a quest to go to Manaforge B'Naar, she is located in the Inn, and you must complete the first quest from Spymaster Thalodien prior to being able to get this quest.

Shadowmoon Valley

There are several quest chains in Shadowmoon Valley at Sanctum of the Stars in Shadowmoon Valley. You must be at least neutral reputation level and meet the level requirements for each quest.

Switching to Scryer

Switching to Scryer can be a difficult task if you are far into Aldor faction level but it is possible. First you must locate Arcanist Adyria who is in the Lower City. She will give you a repeatble quest called "Voren'thal's Visions". For this quest you will need to get 8 Dampscale Basilisk Eyes and turn them in. This quest is repeatable and grants +250 reputation with Scryer per turn-in. You must do this until you are neutral. If you were exalted with Aldor it will take approximately 168 turn ins or about 1344 Basilisk Eyes to get Neutral with Scryers. .

Basilisk eyes drop off the Basilisks in Terrokar Forest which can be found in the areas shown below.

Using the Auction House to Expedite the Scryer Grind

I'm not going to lie; when I leveled up to Exalted with Scryer I bought all of the Arcane Tomes and Signets that were available on the Auction House and only farmed them when the Auction house was out. This is kind of expensive but I use this gold guide to make money for everything I want to buy.
