World of Warcraft for the working person
World of Warcraft for the Working Person
Now this is something I find increasingly difficult the more time I spend in this world. I think its time to start asking some new questions. This is all because of the new addiction, as some might call it or indeed you might think of it as your second full time job. What is this modern day heroin? The totally immersible World of Warcraft of course!
Firstly how do I find enough time in the day to fit my work, my home life, social life and my online virtual life into it. This is now becoming the burning question on many gamers lips. Is it sad to go to work and try and organize your guilds raid schedule, or research where the best areas are to level your character over the coming weeks? The answer of course is a resounding no. For me it makes my day all the more fulfilling and exiting, this in turn motivates me to get more of my real work tasks completed ahead of time so as to enable me to concentrate on WoW business.
Now I know that not everyone gets to do this in their place of work and I do consider myself to be lucky in that respect. Having said that everyone is able to put a little time aside for themselves whilst at work. This may be in a lunch break or just simply during a quiet period. You may only go as far as jotting down some basic notes on paper or even making a mental note. Then once home you can go about putting them into practice and satisfy your brains receptors by once again entering your gaming high.
So having successfully managed your working day you are now faced with your home life. This I find the hardest part of my day to organize, especially with two children holding siege to my house. There is only one way to go here and that is give your family priority and sit it out until they are sound asleep. Yes I here your disappointment but its the only way to avoid conflict comparable to a serious PVP excursion with your partner. Now this is what I consider my time, for me this is usually when the children are in bed, all house hold chores are completed and I’ve made peace with my better half after ruining our evening meal. This was due to my armour stats needing some thought right at the time the Lasagna was due to come out of the oven. Our dinner was ruined which was a shame but at least I know what set of armour I’m going to use.
So all I’m trying to say is that even though it may be difficult sometimes and seem like your never going to reach the level cap, have faith and think smart. You can do anything if you put your mind to it. I created a Blood elf Mage one week previous to writing this article and have just managed to reach level 20. That’s not bad considering I can only average two hours a day maybe a little more when I get on over a weekend. So it is still possible to have your daily fix even when chaos prevails.
True! I have a similar
True!
I have a similar situation: Work, 3 kids, and the wife.
I have an advantage though, the wife play's too!
I love my life!
I completely agree... I work
I completely agree... I work 40+ hrs a week, married and trying to run nice social life. Infact, the only reason I started playing wow was because a lot my friends play. I may have a few level 20 characters, but I'm happy with it.
I feel your pain! Work has
I feel your pain!
Work has shut off access to anything that relates to gaming websites, (except this 1) No more researching Armor & Weapon upgrade locations, no more Bosskillers reviews, no more pouring over WWS charts to figure out who/where we went wrong, no more Thottbot trolling, no more Raid scheduling and personnel substitutions... Bastards! Damn them for restricting my WoW Access... maybe I'll actually start "Working" again.. Pffft.... WTB Winning Lottery Numbers!
Life, Social time, Kids time and Raid Schedules constantly conflict!
WoW Update 2.4 was not compatible with Girlfriend 3.0, the PTR test revealed that [Shield Bash]ing her definately increases aggro. [Feign Death] doesn't reduce aggro and is ALWAYS resisted... [Ice Block] just pisses her off and she camps me until it melts! I attempted to [Shadow Step] out of bed 1 night for a late night WoWrendezvous but stepped on the [backstab]bing [felhound] who yelped, suddenly I felt [Searing Pain] and the [Wrath] of [Illidan] a.k.a Girlfriend
WoTLK will likely end with me being single again..... on the bright side.... more time to hit lvl 80!
It's perfectly OK to have to download the addon "Altoholic"..... you DO NOT... i repeat... DO NOT have a Problem! Then again... we do go to meetings (a.k.a Raids)
I bought a $3800 special laptop just for gaming, the only thing installed is WoW and Ventrilo.. Don't want to risk anymore programs running inthe background to cause latency issues.
Repeat after me "I am not addicted to WoW.... I am not addicted to WoW... I am not addicted to WoW...
