This guide provides shaman PvP tactics and tricks. If you're looking for a EXTREMELY in depth shaman guide check out this, it covers everything you'll ever want to know about your shaman.

Introduction to the Enhancement Shaman

The dual wield (DW) enhancement shaman is a primarily melee damage PvP build that when played correctly will lay waste to all that stand in his or her way. With the correct PvP talent set and gear this build will lead the dps chart in groups above any other class. The strategy for this character is the old saying ‘a good offense is your best defense’. In a PvE scenario, this build will allow you to annihilate 2 or 3 mobs at a time no problem. In a PvP scenario, you will be 1 or 2 hit killing anything that wears cloth and should have no problem defeating plate wearers with ease.

Shaman PvP Equipment

The two most important shaman stats you want every piece of your gear to have are stamina and agility. Obviously stamina gives you more hit points (good for PvP) which when dual wielding is important because of your lack of a shield or a high armor rating. You will still want to have a decent shield at all times because you may be called upon to tank once in a while. Agility adds not only to your chance to crit and dodge, but with the shaman 1 agility = 2 armor. Since this shaman PvP build is lacking a shield, the higher dodge rating will pretty much make up for that lower armor stat. Strength is the next most important stat for a shaman in PvP followed by intellect and spirit. I consider strength less important than agility because it just raises your damage. Having more agility means more crits, which makes up for the slightly lower damage you will produce. Intellect and spirit are good to have on your gear but not nearly as important as stamina, agility and strength. Since you are a shaman, you have mana and health regeneration capabilities with you totems so just lay down the appropriate one when the situation calls for it. As for your weapon choice, this is mainly your personal preference. The quick attack speed of daggers allows for more crits in a shorter period of time. If you want to hit a little harder, chose maces or axes. The slower attack speed of these weapons does not allow for as many crits or procs of windfury, but when they do crit the enemy is going to feel it for sure!

Shaman PvP/DPS Talents

This set of shaman PvP talents will ensure maximum damage, crit, and defensive potential.

At this point you have all the main shaman talents for PvP and you can start working your way back up the enhancement tree.

51: toughness 2/5
52: toughness 3/5
53: toughness 4/5
54: toughness 5/5
55: enhancing totems 1/2

58: mental quickness 2/3
59: mental quickness 3/3

Now you can choose to keep putting into the enhancement tree or start putting into the elemental tree. At this point I chose to put into the elemental tree for convection and elemental warding.

Shaman PvP Gameplay Strategy

Once you get to the point that you are a dual wielding shaman you will want to be using the windfury buff on your weapons for sure. Although windfury does not add damage to every attack like rockbiter, when it procs (which when dual wielding is a 40% chance to proc) it hits very hard with the extra 2 attacks. With a slow attack speed weapon like an axe, a triple crit main hand proc will hit for over 1,200 damage at lvl 50! This is a huge amount of damage for a single strike and this is why you will leave plate wearing classes in a bloody heap on the ground shaking their heads and asking, ‘how did that guy just own me so hard?’. Your best friend will be the stormstrike/earth shock combo. Stormstrike gives your next 2 nature damage spells 20% enhanced damage. Hit the enemy with the stormstrike then instantly with the earth shock. Wait for the cooldown on the earthshock and hit it again. At this point you stormstrike cooldown is almost done, so when it is ready to go again rinse and repeat this combo. Since you won’t have much mana using this build, you will almost always want to have your mana spring totem out. If you subscribe to the ‘the best offense is a good defense’ strategy like I do, you want to have your strength of earth and grace of air totems going while in combat as well. These will not only jack up your damage and crit potential, since grace of air adds agility you will get a defensive bonus of more armor and a higher chance to dodge as well. You can choose to use an offensive totem like fire nova or magma totems, but I find that they use precious mana that you can be using for your stormstrike/earth shock combo. Since totems don’t move your target may move out of the range of these totems anyway and leave you wishing you had not invested the mana into that failed attempt at causing more damage. When you do find yourself low on mana, shamanistic rage is your best friend. The combination of shamanistic rage, mana spring totem, and 2 daggers will refill you mana to almost full in 30 seconds given you don’t spend much mana while you are in the process of gaining the mana back. When you get in over your head and pull too many mobs, earthbind totem can make the difference between life and death. Using this totem will give you a chance to escape and break the aggro so you can gain back health and mana and try for a more reasonable pull.

Shaman PvP Summary

Using this Shaman PvP talent build and the strategies contained within this shaman guide you should be able to play very successfully and with very few problems. Remember to always use totems that enhance your melee capabilities and mana regeneration unless you are in an instance or raid where the majority of players are casters. Your shaman should be able to PvP any class with ease with the exception of maybe a fear spamming warlock, but who can really kill a fear spamming warlock anyway. This would also be a good build to level a Draenei Shaman! Good luck, and have fun tearing apart some plate wearers.

This Guide

Personally i think this guide is pretty good with a few big flaws, Windfury on both weapons is a mistake, use it on a slow hitting main hand then use rockbiter and have a firey enchant on your off hand, off hand can be a little faster hitting, or if you really like to see big numbers and make people run screaming, use Windfury on a 3.0 attack speed weapon for maximum damage, at level 60 you should be getting triple hits for about 1000-1200 each, causing between 3000-3600 damage, also instead of working back up the enhancement tree try going down in your elemental tree to hit elemental fury, 100% damage to spell crit, at level 70 i can crit with earth shock for between 1300-1600 damage, my total output at 70 with a good wind fury is as follows, triple crit windfury with thunder hits for 2200 a hit, then stormstrike for an added 1000 then earth shock for an extra 1400 = 9000 damage, this is against mail/leather, just wanted to post my thoughts

Stamina is a given, ... but

Stamina is a given, ... but Agility? What about hit rating? Most important is hit rating first... Depending on how you spec, you will get 6% - 9% Hit rating off the getgo, then the question is how much hit rating you need whether you are going Duel WIeld or Two Hand. Then next stat spec is optional based on whether you want to be a balanced or burst dps build. Stack strength if you want to have a stable dps all the time, with the occasional super high procs from all the attack power you have. Or go agility if you want to crit and dodge often. But be warned you will get a reduction in crits when you reduce AP.

I didn't take the time to read the rest of this guide after I read his initial build. When people don't know about hit rating, I already know they are mediocre type players. Recommend reading another guild

This guide is wrong on so

This guide is wrong on so many levels it's not even funny. It felt like reading a guide from 2005 where basically nobody knew anything about the game.

Putting anything else than Windfury on your weapons as an enhancement-shaman is just stupid. And so is collecting huge amounts of hit rating. Strength (and AP to a lesser extent) and Crit are so much better.

This is a great guide... I

This is a great guide... I dont know what these other folks are complaining about. I have recomended this guide to many. I do believe that the newest changes to WOW have made leveling easier so many of the quests can be dropped up to level 60. When I do all the quests listed I actually level 2 levels instead of the 1 planned level in the guide.

Still, what a great problem to have. : )

1. u gotta use two slow

1. u gotta use two slow weaps with WF on both the weaps.
2. the talent suggestions suck.
3. on all the Shaman PvP gear its Stam, Strength and CRIT RATING .. NOT AGI !

So much wrong...not even

So much wrong...not even worth time to spell it out. This is not a good guide at all. The theorycrafting done for PvE shaman in the enhance shammy bible has numbers and figures to back up claims...you have nothing. No wonder Blizz won't do anything about shammies when most people don't even know how to play them correctly.

I do like this guide, I was

I do like this guide, I was elemental shaman until lvl 40 and then respeced to enhancement and am now having a LOT more fun in both pvp and pve. Couple of flaws though, why bother with sheild specialization talent, mail armor just isn't going to cut it against plate it the later on instances and you will be a laughable tank in comparrison to a warrior or palladin. Were you will excel though as I am finding is DPS, it's insane. High agility and crit + items to see those big numbers whirl up and believe when I say, I see lots. Again I agree some of the elemental tree is well worth taking especially reduced Shock casting time.

For pvp tactics, I find the following works wonders for me, 1st hit them with frost shock so they aint danceing round you. Then drop Earthbind totem to slow them more, storm strike, hit, earth shock, it's probably all over for them by then and if it isn't your doing something wrong. Of course other things do come into consideration for what class your fighting, am I the only one who really struggles against hunters?

Kit wise, at lvls 38-47 I would recomend doing about 10-20 runs into Scarlet Monastary cathedral for the Scarlet armor set, it rocks. Weapon wise, mid 30s RFD has a very nice axe called "Pronged Reaver" be sure to get two, later on go to Maraden and pick up two skull maces (Very high drop rate.) save some gold up and get yourself firey or Icy chill weapon enchants they work a treat.

Unlike people who have just insulted this, I actually play an orc Shaman, my player name is Orlock and what I seem to be doing useing this guide as GUIDELINES as what it is meant for, it's a good aid.

Thanx

'reduced shock casting

'reduced shock casting time'? I thought shock spells were instant cast...

Nearly everything I have read on this page has been shite

Please promise me that you

Please promise me that you will NOT use this as your main Enhancement Shammy Guide.

Read this: http://elitistjerks.com/f47/t20765-shaman_enhancement/
It's not specifically geared towards PvP, but a huge chunk of this carries over and will help you understand the underlying mechanics of your class.

i think that this talent

i think that this talent setup is out of date know with the new patch heres what you do you learn 2 in improved ghost wolf and 5 in toughness and you dont use antcipation and you only put 4 in unleashes rage so you can get 14 in resto its much better for 2.4 heres a link to my armory page and you can see the spec yourself i am 4/5 veng and 1/5 merc. http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Kel%27Thuzad&n=Zordona

This guide is wrong from the

This guide is wrong from the very beginning. Telling people to use fast daggers for more crits? It is like saying "Spec 10/48/3 and spam frostbolt" to a mage!!! Please donot follow this guide and make your life miserable ^^ Good luck pewpewing

ve been playing since launch

ve been playing since launch and i think that this guide I worst than the origenalls when no body even new how to play the game! well afet reading this I min as well have speced 1/1/68 and went out to joing a raid group as a DPS. any ways try a little harder and make a better guide.

PS learn to play a shammy befor making a guid on one XD. Peace

Yeah I am new to the game

Yeah I am new to the game only playing for a year, and I don't even spec my chars until they get 70, hummm what a noob, and I have 5 lvl 70 and 2 60s and enjoying myself. some guides are more helpful than others, but you don't base your decisions on reading one guide, but it gets you thinking and you learn as you go, but the sickening thing is all the people that can cry down a guide and not offer any valuable input, just mouth off this stinks this sucks this is a bad guide... Help up or SHUT UP

With that said can anyone offer alternative guides at lease to this one so I can compare, because after reading guides and playing with my many chars and getting 5000+ crits and stuff things are starting to get interesting.... guides like this at lease gets us thinking. and the criticism is useless without and alternative.

Thanks

Sorry should have said

Sorry should have said reduced shock spell cool down time, reduces it by one second I believe, awfully handy sometimes in pvp I find.

I have noticed one major problem having now hit 70 though, from the pvp arena gear I have seen not much of it gives you plus agility which is a real pain as agility is your critical chance which you need obviously for flurry and wind furry proc. Have Blizzard designed it this way on purpose, if any one does know of any 70 gear sets either through pvp or pve which do give you +agility please could they be kind enough to tell me the name.

Why the Improved Ghost wolf,

Why the Improved Ghost wolf, IMO it's a waste of two valueable talent points....

There is a lot wrong with

There is a lot wrong with this guide.

1. always Windfury
2. max hit rating with talents do not enchant +hit rating
3. stromstrike/ES combo is bullshit. save earth shock for interrupt the damage bonus is nothing if you have no spell dmg... also use rather flame shock it does more dmg in the long run and more mana efficient

Probably something more but i didn't read everything.

To catch people? Melee

To catch people? Melee doesn't do any good when you are being kited. Same reason to do toughness now that it gives reduced snare time.

You reduce the cooldown

You reduce the cooldown time. Not casting time.
