So I’ve been multi-boxing since as far back as I can remember starting back in Everquest and then into World of Warcraft. Although today I’m a little bit more laid back and operate each box manually instead of with software, I’ve found there’s a few combinations that work really well for leveling and even for “soloing” some dungeons by yourself.
The Best Duo Combo I’ve found for being able to quest uninterrupted and even do some dungeons has been Hunter/Paladin although Hunter/Priest isn’t too bad.
Why Hunter?
Hunter is an obvious choice, you don’t want to take a tank class because even if you do survive the DPS is low. this could work as a Warlock but the thing with the hunter in addition to having the ability to heal your pet is that you can get Carrion Birds/Bats/Owls and teach them Screech. Screech is a small damage / attack reduction AOE with a very quick cool down, this let’s you hold a moderate amount of AoE aggro so neither you or a healer will typically get aggro from healing.
You may be able to do this with another pet class but if you spec into Beast Mastery you’ll get a pet that does a moderate amount of damage and a hunter that can also do a moderate amount of damage.
Your pet is a miniature AOE tank with it’s own talent points that you can spec into Armor to reduce it’s damage by as much as 50-60%, especially if you use a carrion bird which has less damage than the owl/bat.
So now you have a high armor pet how do you compliment that?
I can think of no better way than to have a Holy Paladin running Devotion Aura for extra armor and heals. Your pet becomes a pretty decent tank which allows you to solo dungeons and do elite quests but either way you have no down time almost at all.
A priest can work as your secondary healer as well but you’ll have a stamina buff which is good and he’s a bit more squishy but this duo works better than having a tank and a healer because even though you can tank all sorts of crap and do dungeons you will fall asleep because the DPS is too low to do much of anything.
The Best 3 Man Combo
When I look at running dungeons with your 3 and being able to function, I think a Prot Paladin, Holy Priest, and Mage are probably one of the best 3 man groups around.
The reason is AOE Leveling, you can literally pull an ass ton of mobs on the protection paladin, drop consecration, cast blizzard on the mage or arcane explosion if you prefer, and the priest even has an AOE heal she can spam that does damage as well. It’s like smacking the enemies with a 3 way combo of AOEs while having a powerful healer and powerful tank.
You could do the old 3 mage box etc but I prefer not to move or have to try to be very mobile while I’m boxing. With the setup above you won’t even have to take off autofollow and can just freely run through huge enemy camps, gather up mobs, and smoke them.
Not to mention the Paladin will help the casters with extra armor and Blessing of Wisdom for mana regen, it’s definitely a match made in heaven.
